The Transport Engineering Conference and Exhibition, slated on October 4 to 6 at the Ritz-Carlton, Doha, will highlight the various infrastructure milestones Qatar has achieved in various sectors, an official has said.
Engineer Hamad Essa Abdulla, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC), said the event serves as an “appropriate platform” and provides an opportunity to exchange best practices in the fields of transportation engineering.
He also lauded the participation of Qatari cadres and expertise in the conference. He said a group of Qatari cadres in the land transport affairs sector at the MoTC will present four visual presentations on the sector's most prominent works, including preparing strategic plans and initial designs for road networks, assessment programmes, and road network surveys to improve their quality.
At a press conference yesterday, Abdulla was joined by engineer Khalid bin Ahmed al-Nasr, chairman of the Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE), who said the conference is being held for the first time in Qatar and organised by the QSE under the patronage of the MoTC.
Al-Nasr said 25 scientific papers were accepted and approved to be presented over the three-day conference and will highlight new developments in Qatar that have been completed and executed, as well as the announcement of future projects.
He said the conference will announce completed infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, and tunnels, as well as those in Hamad Port, the latest technologies in customs clearance, the storage of goods in ports, air transport hub deals with airports, types of aircraft, and the latest in the field of aviation engineering.
Abdulla said a number of specialists will participate in the conference sessions and discussion panels and will showcase many products related to the land transport sector at the exhibition.
Al-Nasr said the conference will be accompanied by a specialised exhibition where several governmental, semi-governmental, and private sector entities will showcase the latest technologies and engineering industries in the field of transportation, especially in the land and air sectors.
He said registration for the conference will be through the QSE official website. Yesterday’s press conference was attended by representatives of the event’s official sponsors: Public Works Authority, Ashghal; QTerminals; Karwa Transportation Company; Mwani Qatar; Qatari Diar; Huawei Qatar; Vodafone Qatar, and Q-Auto (Audi).
