In implementation of the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, two cargo planes (C-17) belonging to the Qatari Amiri Air Force arrived in Tunisia yesterday carrying medical aid to support Tunisian efforts in containing the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The aid includes a field hospital with a 200-bed capacity fully-equipped in terms of medical supplies, in addition to 100 ventilators.
The medical aid comes in the framework of Qatar's policy of enhancing international solidarity and co-operation to face the pandemic, and its policy of enhancing bilateral relations and co-operation between Qatar and Tunisia.
Meanwhile, Tunisian Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Interior Hichem Mechichi praised the close and exemplary relations between Qatar and Tunisia in many areas, especially in economic and investment fields.
In a statement, Mechichi praised Qatar's support for Tunisia, especially in addressing the pandemic.
Qatar ambassador in Tunis Saad bin Nasser the medical aid will help the Tunisian government in confronting the pandemic and consolidating the close relations between the two brotherly countries.
