The Yemeni football team arrived in Doha to face the Mauritania national team on Tuesday at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in the Arab Cup qualifiers for Qatar 2021.

The Yemeni team aspires to defeat the Mauritanian team in a playoff match in order to cross into the Arab Cup finals and be in the second group, which includes Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Syria.

A delegation from the local organizing committee of the tournament received them, headed by Member of the Board of Directors of the Yemeni Football Association Samir Al-Khalki, and includes the technical and administrative bodies in addition to 23 players. The players are Mohammad Ayash, Mohammed Fateh Aman, Salem Al Harsh, Ahmed Sadeq, Mudir Al Radaei, Mohammed Boqshan, Alaa Noman, Abdul Wasi Al Matari, Nasser Mohammedoh, Mufeed Gamal, Ahmed Al Sarori, Emad Mansoor, Jihad Abdulrab, Galal Al Galal, Mohsen Qarawi, Ahmed Maher, Omar Al Dahi, Mazen Al Zaarawi, Ahmed Al Wajeeha, Ali Hafeedh, Manaf Saeed, Salem Mutran and Abdulmoeen Al Jarshi.

Upon arrival, the delegation was subjected to a swab PCR test to detect Covid-19 before being transported to the hotel residence in order to enter a medical bubble until their departure time after the match, according to the instructions of the organizing committee, which prohibits teams from moving except for training and matches, in application of the protocol for the Arab Cup qualifiers.

The Yemeni team will conduct its first training session on Sunday at the Qatar University stadiums under the supervision of national coach Ahmed Ali Qassem, in the initiation of direct preparations for the match with Mauritania, with the aim of winning and qualifying.

The technical staff is counting on the technical and physical readiness of the team, which has just played the double qualifiers for the World Cup and the Asian Cup in Group D, completed in Riyadh, where the team was defeated in three strong matches, 0-3 against Saudi Arabia, 0-1 against Uzbekistan and 0-3 against Palestine.
