The Qatar Financial Center (QFC) on Tuesday hosted the second annual Qatar Business Awards (QBA), where in Alfardan Group was specially recognised for its contribution and value-addition to the domestic economy.
The QBA 2019 award winners also included Al Rayan Investment for the best performing company; Apparel Qatar for the best employer; CFA Society Doha for the best non-profit entity; Qatar SportsTech for most innovative company and EProjects for the new business.
The other winners were K&L Gates for the best law firm; Clyde and Company for corporate social responsibility programme; PricewaterhouseCoopers for the best local partner; and Allianz Care for the best customer service platform.
The event brought together Yousuf Mohamed al-Jaida, QFC Authority (QFCA) chief executive and Hamad bin Mohamed al-Abdan, director of the Business Development and Investment Promotion Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, along with a number of officials and senior executives from major Qatar-based companies.
“By recognising the key role that QFC firms and the wider business community play in the local market, we are confident that the 2019 edition will offer a more inclusive platform for businesses to connect, inspire one another, and collectively celebrate their achievements as Qatar continues to build and diversify its growing economy,” said Raed al-Emadi, chief commercial officer, QFCA.
Salam al-Shawa, senior vice president (Marketing and Corporate Communications), Qatar Airways, said the airline is proud to partner with the QFC in celebrating the exceptional achievements of Qatar business community. “We congratulate all winners at the 2019 Qatar Business Awards and are delighted to support innovation and local talent in Qatar,” she added.
Joseph Abraham, Group chief executive, Commercial Bank, said it was committed to supporting the QFC and Qatar in developing a global and diversified economy that is attractive to foreign companies looking to use Qatar as their regional base.
Lin Shengiang, president of Bank of China QFC Branch, said his organisation has achieved enormous achievements under the support of QFC and “are looking forward to having more Chinese fellow companies participate in the QBA.”
