HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari, yesterday visited the 26th session of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani Holy Qur’an Contest for men, organised by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
The Minister witnessed the final stage of the competitions for this year, which was hosted by the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque, in the presence of the chairman of the organising committee of the competition and a number of senior officials in the ministry.
The final stage of the competition determines the order of the winners in each category from first to fifth place.
The winner of first place in the Holy Qur’an memorisation, recitation and improved reading category for the citizens, as well as the categories of memorisation for citizens and special memorisation for residents will get QR100,000, while second place winners in the same categories will get QR85,000.
The third place winner will get QR70,000, fourth will get QR60,000 and the fifth will get QR50,000.
The organising committee will also give prizes to the competitors who have passed the second stage and did not qualify for the third stage of the competition in memorising the Holy Qur’an in full, in addition to the rewards of good votes for all participants.
On November 26, competitions will be held for female citizens and residents during the morning.
