QatarDebate Centre (QD), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), recently organised the Police College Mini Debate League as an academic undergraduate curriculum for the students.
The debate is part of the academic assessment of 40% of the degree within the course offered by the Department of Educational Programmes at the College.
The two-round league was held at the centre’s headquarters in Education City with the participation of 25 students from the Police College, in addition to some alumni who participated as judges.
The first round began with linking the traffic violations fees to income issue, and the final round was on preventing civilians from acquiring firearms.
In this regard, an officer of the Academic Development at the Police College Abdullah Hamad al-Ghayathin explained that the college’s administration through its teaching debates as an optional subject ensures to consolidate police thought along with legal sciences and communicate with others.
He pointed out that this course also aims to focus on applications that develop the skills necessary for students in the subjects of law such as argumentation and refutation, adding that the college is working to apply the debates as a basic subject but in a legal form to become a decision of the college and encourages students indirectly to choose among the subjects offered.
