Auto Class Cars, the authorised distributer of MG in Qatar, launched the all-new MG5 in Qatar in a special event held at the MG showroom on Salwa road in Doha.
The event was attended by Sheikh Faleh bin Nawaf al-Thani, director, operations, Auto at Nasser Bin Khaled Group; Hesham al-Sahn, general manager, Auto Class Cars; Karim Monir, head of marketing, Auto Class Cars; Tamer Abdallah, MG brand manager in Qatar; and executives from MG Motor.
The launch of all-new MG5 is part of MG Motor's plan to put the car on sale across the Middle East, according to a statement.

Sheikh Faleh said, “Auto Class Cars continues to strengthen its collaboration with MG and the launch of the new MG5 in Qatar is in line with our strategic plans and expansion in Qatar, to maintain our ascending growth. MG is now a favourite choice, thanks to its amazing design, modern technology and affordable price."
Al-Sahn noted, “We, at Auto Class Cars, are happy to be the first to launch this car in the Middle East markets, a clear indication of our strong position and the mutual trust between MG and Auto Class Cars."
Tom Lee, managing director, SAIC Motor Middle East, the parent company of MG Motor’s Middle East operations, added: “This new model is a true game-changer and will be pitched directly against less well-equipped models from the established brands. With an extremely competitive price, in a segment that is dominated by fleet sales, the MG5 is a true challenger model that will hold great appeal among its young target customers.”
Ensuring that the region’s car buyers will no longer have to compromise when choosing a compact sedan, the all-new MG5 brings together spacious sporty styling with an impressive list of hi-tech features and entertaining performance and handling, the statement notes.
The MG5 is totally new from the ground-up, with a sporty look that perfectly suits those with an active lifestyle. At the front, the lightning blade design LED headlights, daytime running lights and chrome Wingspan grille make a strong visual statement, while the double curve of the side panels serves to accentuate the new model’s sports credentials.
Designed with the tech-savvy millennial audience in mind, the MG5 is equipped with a raft of cutting-edge features. The on-board infotainment system includes a 10.1-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Cruise control comes as standard, while push button start, keyless entry, electrically adjustable seats with manual lumbar support for both driver and passenger, a rear-view camera and a
360 o surround-view camera for ultimate safety are also available, depending on model.
The MG5 is particularly roomy, and is 4,601mm long, 1,818mm wide, 1,489mm high and comes with a 2,680mm wheelbase and 512 litre boot. It also offers a premium travel experience courtesy of the carefully designed, extra-comfy seats and use of soft-touch material around the cabin.
In the Middle East, the MG5 will come with a 1.5L petrol engine delivering max power of 118hp and up to 150 Nm of torque, and mated to a fuel-efficient CVT. An entertaining driving experience is bolstered by MG’s XDS system for enhanced cornering, a choice of three steering models and ESP traction control across all trims.
The MG5 is big on safety. Passive safety features include a high-tensile steel cage-style body, the use of advanced laser brazing technology to enhance overall vehicle strength and stiffness powered by curtain airbags. An auto-hold function, ABS, EBD and a corner brake control all contribute to active safety.
