The Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA), in co-operation with Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), has organised a comprehensive course on integrity, ethics, and transparency for public sector employees to enhance the capabilities of public officials and to promote these virtues in the country’s various sectors.
During the training programme, participants learned about local and international standards of integrity, transparency, and ethics, the core values of the law, organisational message, government policy, culture and images of integrity violations and ways to avoid them.
The programme, which also discussed how they can regulate the costs of violations of integrity, provided the participants with knowledge to assess the importance of governance and accountability.
Similarly, the participants were able to enhance awareness of the code of conduct, ethical values, and ways of dealing with ambiguous situations.
The President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority HE Hamad bin Nasser al-Misned said the training programme comes within the framework of the authority’s development plan to enhance the capabilities of public officials in raising their competence and equip them with the knowledge that enhances their scientific and practical capabilities.
Al-Misned said it is also part of ACTA’s approach to benefit from national training centres and institutions, such as the QFBA, to familiarise themselves with the characteristics of the Qatari work environment and its experiences in training.
In a speech, Dr Khalid al-Horr, chief executive officer, QFBA, noted that the growth of the public sector is essential to the development of any emerging economy. He said the aim of these training programmes is to provide public sector professionals with appropriate tools and methodologies to enhance their skillsets and gather the knowledge necessary to steer their growth trajectory in the right direction.
Al-Horr also stressed the need for cooperation between public institutions to support Qatar in improving transparency and in promoting integrity and ethics in the public sector. He also stated that QFBA aims to deliver its customised programmes to credible organisations to contribute towards realising the vision of a knowledge-based economy.
The programme concluded with an innovative workshop in which participants tested a realistic scenario and sought practical solutions to the posed
challenges.
Thanks to these initiatives, QFBA and ACTA are renewing their desire to collaborate to raise the level of public sector employees to the highest levels by providing world-class education, which contributes to building an important pillar in Qatar National Vision 2030 of human development.
