The Embassy of Nepal recently celebrated third Constitution Day on its premises. The event was chaired by Professor Ramesh Prasad Koirala, Ambassador of Nepal. Constitution Day commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 2015 Constitution of Nepal that officially consolidated the country’s transition from a constitutional monarchy to a federal republic. 
The event was attended by Nepali businesspersons, social workers, journalists, and Nepali community leaders residing in Doha. Professor Koirala hoisted the national flag. The programme kicked off with one-minute silence as a tribute to the martyrs of the country who rendered supreme sacrifices for their motherland.
Speaking at the event Professor Koirala expressed his happiness at the opportunity to celebrate Asoj 3 as a national festival when the new constitution was promulgated, addressing seven decades of the aspirations of Nepal to have a constitution. He said the constitution has been regarded as an important document that has guaranteed the rights of people of all languages, and religion. 
He said, “The day has paved the way for the greater social, economic and cultural development and we know, we have a long way to walk being committed to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people of Nepal.” He thanked Nepali community members in Qatar for their contribution towards the welfare of the community. He urged Nepali community members to work in accordance with the the vision of Nepali government. He also thanked Qatar for hosting more than 4,00,000 Nepalis.
