Taking their bilateral relations to new heights, Qatar and Cote d'Ivoire signed a number of agreements and memorandum of understanding on Monday in Doha to enhance co-operation in various fields.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Cote d'Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara witnessed the signing.

The agreements are on the establishment of a joint committee of co-operation, on higher education and scientific research, promotion and protection of mutual investments aimed at enhancing and deepening economic co-operation for the common interest and mutual benefit of both countries, and on Ivorian workers recruitment regulation.

The leaders also witnessed the signing of a maritime transport agreement and a memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the fields of tourism and tourism business events.

The signing ceremony of the agreements and the memorandum of understanding were attended by the ministers from Qatar and members of the official delegation accompanying the President of Cote d'Ivoire.

His Highness the Amir also held an official talks session on Monday with President Ouattara at the Amiri Diwan.

At the beginning of the session, the Amir welcomed the Ivoirian president and his accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay and hoping that the visit contributes to promoting the friendly relations and develops co-operation between both countries in various fields.

For his part, President Ouattara thanked the Amir for the warm welcome and hospitality, expressing his happiness to visit Qatar for the second time. He also praised the strong bilateral relations and looked forward to further develop the co-operation to achieve the interests of both countries and their peoples.

During the session, the Amir and President Ouattara discussed means to promote the bilateral relations and develop the co-operation, especially in the investment field, education, infrastructure and agriculture. The talks also touched on the most prominent international and regional issues, especially related to achieving security and stability in Africa.

The talks were attended by a number of ministers from Qatar and members of the official delegation accompanying the Cote d'Ivoire leader. President Ouattara was earlier accorded an official reception at the Amiri Diwan.

His Highness the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet at the Amiri Diwan in honour of President Ouattara and his accompanying delegation.

The banquet was attended by a number of Their Excellencies the ministers and businessmen.
