The General Directorate of Traffic yesterday held a meeting to discuss topics related to the plans of the second phase of the National Traffic Safety Strategy (2018-2022).
The meeting, attended by representatives of the entities concerned with the implementation of the strategy, also discussed follow-up measures based on the recommendations of the meetings of the national committee for traffic safety and related forums.
Secretary of the National Traffic Safety Committee, Brigadier Engineer Mohamed Abdullah al-Malki, highlighted the challenges facing the committee as it aims to achieve the plans for the next five years as well as the major national goals associated with this phase.
He impressed the need to achieve the plans on schedule, adding that the committee aims to activate the recommendation of its 18th meeting, which include following up on the progress by the officials of the entities concerned, expediting projects in co-ordination with the National Traffic Safety Office, giving traffic safety priority in institutional plans.
National Traffic Safety Office Director Kim Jerio highlighted the nature of challenges facing the implementation process in the current stage of the strategy and the progress of the entities concerned in terms of planning and projects.
He also touched on ways to deal with the new evaluation and follow-up system.
