*Amir, Putin discuss ways to enhance ties

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting at the Kremlin in Moscow on Sunday.
At the outset of the meeting, Putin welcomed the Amir and congratulated him for officially receiving the 2022 FIFA World Cup host's mantle.
President Putin expressed confidence that the people of Qatar will make the next tournament a success, stressing his country's readiness to provide assistance in this area.
For his part, the Amir thanked the Russian president for the invitation and congratulated him on the organisation of the great event.
His Highness the Amir affirmed that Qatar will work hard in organising the World Cup in 2022.
He referred to a group of 200 people from Qatar who were working with the team organising the Russia World Cup.
His Highness the Amir thanked the Russian president and Russia for giving Qataris the opportunity of exchanging expertise.
His Highness the Amir explained that the 2022 World Cup is a tournament for all Arabs, pointing out that the Arab region is going through a difficult time, stressing that it is a great nation which is able to overcome all differences.
The meeting dealt with the close bilateral relations and means of developing aspects of co-operation between the two friendly countries, especially in the fields of investment, energy, defence, culture and sports.
The Amir and the Russian president discussed a number of regional and international issues, especially developments in the Middle East, particularly Palestine and Syria.
The two leaders also discussed the Gulf crisis and the need to resolve it through dialogue.
The meeting was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Amir.
On the Russian side, it was attended by a number of ministers.
