Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has awarded 43 tenders amounting to more than QR2bn in the first quarter of 2018, it was informed at a recent forum to evaluate the performance of various departments.

An effective saving of more than QR200mn was made by saving approximately 20mn thermal units of natural gas in the corporation's operations.

Various departments of the Corporation are moving towards achieving ISO 9001:2015 and Kahramaa has stopped issuing paper notifications to customers for disconnection of power while carrying out maintenance and repairing works among others. Another significant achievement, it was pointed out, was the reduction in the checking and connecting time of water and electricity meters at customers' locations from the earlier average of six days to 5.1 days.

The Corporation also informed that drinking water supplied to the customers has attained WHO standards. The restoration time for power after disruption came down significantly from over eight minutes to a little more than 3.5 minutes. There has also been a significant reduction in the loss incurred in transmission, it was informed.

The forum chaired by Kahramaa president Issa bin Hilal al-Kuwari was attended by directors and heads of all departments.
