Celebrating its second Ramadan with the community this year, Doha Festival City took the initiative with Qatar Charity to distribute 2,000 Iftar boxes from the Ikea Restaurant.
The Iftar boxes included water, dates, laban, sandwich and a fruit, and were distributed to taxi drivers and labourers on May 23.
Aimed at helping those who are fasting break their fast as they are still working during the Maghrib prayer, the initiative took place at the West Court 1 Entrance of the mall, with support from the Ministry of Interior's Traffic Department to assist with the distribution by Al Shamal Road.

Alexey Sitkin, store manager at Ikea Qatar, said, “This is an incredibly important initiative that we look forward to encouraging people to make room for change. We want to help drive awareness to social responsibility, and it starts by supporting the people in need. We are excited to join hands with the Doha Festival City team and Qatar Charity in bringing generosity to others during this holy month of Ramadan.”
May Marzooq, senior marketing manager of Doha Festival City Mall, added: “With the holy month of Ramadan upon us, Doha Festival City is honoured to come together with Qatar Charity and Ikea. On behalf of myself and the management team, we would like to thank Qatar Charity, Ikea and the Ministry of Interior's Traffic Department for their support. At Doha Festival City, we are invested in the community and are always looking for more ways to promote social responsibility among each other.”
