Qatar Foundation (QF) has announced that it is set to host a range of activities for the wider community during the holy month of Ramadan at various locations throughout Education City.

Families and children of all ages and nationalities are invited to take part, and can look forward to a variety of cultural, religious, and health and well-being activities themed around Islam and the Holy Qur'an.

Machaille Hassan al-Naimi, president of Community Development at QF, said: “At Qatar Foundation, we’re delighted to host a diverse range of events and activities for Ramadan. The month-long programme has been specially designed to be enjoyed by all, and will enable us to foster greater social engagement as part of our year-round community development efforts.

"We look forward to welcoming the wider community to Education City, where each day they can expect new and exciting activities as they celebrate this special period.

“Ramadan is a time for reflection, giving, and connecting with the community. We invite families from across Qatar to join in the festivities, volunteer their time for the greater good, and learn more about the teachings of Islam.”

As part of the annual event, Qur’anic Botanic Garden will host the AlUtrujah Holy Qur’an contest for school students below the age of 12. The contest, held in collaboration with Education City Mosque, aims to encourage primary school students to study the Holy Qur’an. The contest also highlights the Qur’anic verses and stories that feature botanical terms.

Education City Mosque will hold an Iftar programme throughout Ramadan, providing 1,000 meals to members of the wider community. In the spirit of good faith, members of the public are encouraged to volunteer their time to pack and distribute the meals. Those interested in volunteering should email their name, contact details, and a suitable day and time they are able to volunteer to [email protected]

Throughout the month, QF will also host a range of sporting events, including adult swimming classes, artistic gymnastics, mixed martial arts for children, a women's volleyball tournament, and a men’s badminton competition.

QF will celebrate Garangao, a popular children’s festival traditionally held across the Arabian Gulf region mid-way through Ramadan, on June 1 at the Al Shaqab Indoor Arena.

The event will feature a range of activities hosted by QF and its various entities.
