HE the Advisory Council Speaker Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud met on Sunday with a delegation of the Qatari-European Friendship Group in the European Parliament. The delegation was led by Ramona Manescu.
During the meeting, they discussed the development of parliamentary relations between the Advisory Council and the European Parliament, and reviewed a number of issues of common interest.
The Advisory Council Speaker briefed the delegation on what Qatar was witnessing in terms of economic growth and the development in various fields, as well as the developments in the legislative and legal fields. 
He also briefed them on the role and functions of the Advisory Council, as well as the efforts of Qatar to combat extremism and terrorism.
The Speaker spoke to the delegation about the unjust blockade imposed on Qatar, and its violation of international law and disregard for the principles of good neighbourliness and the basis on which relations between countries should be based.
The delegation of the Qatari-European Friendship Group praised Qatar's growth and development in various fields, expressing their hope that the relations between the Advisory Council and the European Parliament, as well as the relations of Qatar with the European Union countries will witness further strength in co-operation and co-ordination in various fields during the coming period.
The delegation also expressed their hope of a solution in the near-term for the GCC crisis through dialogue, stressing its support for all efforts exerted to achieve this goal.
The meeting was attended by Nasser Khalil al-Jaidah, Mohammed Abdullah Abdulghani, Dahlan Jamaan al-Hamad, Dr Hessa al-Jaber, Reem Mohammed al-Mansouri, members of the Advisory Council.
