The southbound lane of the Orbital road will remain closed five days for a distance of 10km, starting from Ras Laffan Road crossing over Al Shamal Road from midnight on Tuesday (April 17).

Also, the traffic on northbound lanes on Al Mazrouah Road leading to Al Khor Interchange on Al Shamal Road will remain closed.

The detour will enable the construction of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route project.

During the diversion, motorists coming from Ras Laffan road on southbound Orbital Road can use the Al Khor Link Road in place of the Orbital Road through Al Khor Interchange on Al Shamal Road and continue straight to the Orbital Road (as illustrated on the map).

Also, the motorists coming from the Orbital Road to Al Khor Interchange via Al Mazrooah Road can continue their journey through the Orbital Road instead to Ras Laffan Road, and then turn right to the Al Khor Link Road. From there one needs to turn right again to Al Khor Interchange on North Road for continuing the journey (as shown on the map).

Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists about the changes on the road and commuters have been requested to abide by the speed limit of 80kph for all sections of the Orbital Road and the adjacent roads.
