The Public Works Authority - Ashghal, in association with Qatar University, hosted a workshop for its staff to identify areas of co-operation between the two entities.
The workshop "Advances in Civil Engineering and Potential Developments and Applications for Qatar" was held in the presence of Ashghal's quality and safety department manager Khalid al-Emadi and several new engineering aspirants and other Ashghal staff.
There were presentations and discussions by scholars from the College of Engineering (QU-CENG) in four areas. They were on building materials and roads; drainage, treatment and use of waste water for irrigation purposes; health and safety in project management; and healthy monitoring and strengthening of vital infrastructure.
The workshop came within the scope of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Ashghal and QU-CENG, aiming at development and enhancement of co-operation between the two entities to benefit from the potentials of both the parties in the fields of research, consultancy, and community services, based on the desire of both parties in active community partnership and facilitate mutual transfer of knowledge and technology.
It was reiterated at the meeting that Ashghal is committed to its efforts to achieve the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030 through building advanced infrastructure, roads and highways, besides public buildings in educational health and government offices. 
Ashghal said it spares no effort to support researchers and students from the university and to train fresh graduates in their specific areas with provision of required consultancies, envisioning that Qatar is the end beneficiary.
