The week-long Organic Festival has begun at all LuLu Hypermarket outlets in Qatar. The festival, which seeks to promote organic and healthy products, was jointly inaugurated by Ecuador’s ambassador Ivonne A-Baki and Sweden’s ambassador Ewa Polano at LuLu Hypermarket — Al Messila on Monday.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by high-ranking officials from various diplomatic missions, including Dana Plesa, charge d’affaires of the Romanian embassy, Viviana Malvina Sosa, head of the Commercial Section at the Argentinian embassy, Ilona Shtrom, senior commercial officer from the US embassy, Anissa Lahrenche, senior commercial specialist from the US embassy, Palma Libotte from the Italian Business Council, as well as Shaijan M O, regional director of LuLu Group, Shanavas P M, regional manager of LuLu Group, and other dignitaries from various sectors.
In a statement yesterday, LuLu Group said it has been “actively promoting organic and healthy products for the last few years by extending the product range to include everything — from fresh produce to packed food and non-food items”.
Today, it sells more than 1,200 organic products across various categories sourced both locally and globally to meet the demands of the large cosmopolitan population residing in Qatar, the statement points out.
A special section is dedicated in all stores specifically to promote this category.
Items on sale include fresh and dry organic food products as well as condiments and oils.
These ranges include yoghurts, salmon, rice, honey, sauces, quinoa, pasta, coconut oil, tea, vinegar, juices, butter, vegetables, meat, fruits and others.
There is also a range of textiles, which is produced using organic cotton sourced from India.
Apart from sourcing locally, LuLu also import several products through its own offices in the US, UK, Spain, India and the Far East to “ensure uninterrupted supply at the most competitive prices”.
Organic products are being regularly imported from Holland, France, Italy, Mexico, Chile and Sri Lanka.
This has helped bring sustainability in the market and lower prices to make organic products more affordable, the statement adds.
As part of the promotion, a wide range of organic products are on promotion and shoppers can sample many items before buying them.
The festival has a special display of products country-wise.
The festival, which runs until March 18, is being held simultaneously across all LuLu Hypermarket outlets in Qatar as part of the ongoing Women’s Day celebrations and offers discounts on a wide range of organic products.
