More women are now leading in the business sector, according to the Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre).
Bedaya Centre general manager Ream al-Sowaidi said: “With the prudent guidance of our leadership, Qatari women have been able to establish a special position in various fields and sectors starting from the society’s comprehensive development or in supporting the local economy by re-crystalising their traditional work functions. As a result, we see a large number of women who have become leaders in the business sector. At Bedaya Centre, we spare no effort to support them to achieve their goals.”
Al-Sowaidi made the statement in relation to the celebration of International Women’s Day, observed recently. Bedaya Centre, a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Siltek, in collaboration with ‘Local Bazar’, recently held an event to celebrate the global event and shed light on the achievements of Qatari women.
During the event, the participants reflected on the support Qatari women enjoy from the government and the community in achieving their goals and realising their objectives at all levels and in various fields.
The attendees also thanked the wise leadership of the country for working continuously to empower women to be an integral part in the development of the local economy by encouraging them to break the stereotype of their traditional work functions.
They shared the opinion that the proactive policies of the state have resulted in a large number of women achieving leadership positions in the business sector.
According to the attendees, Qatari women have demonstrated their ability to work in different sectors, including top executive positions, which were previously exclusive to males, thus supporting their successes and enhancing their social standing and the prominent role they play in society.
Al-Sowaidi added: “Today, we highlight the achievements of Qatari women during a special meeting held in conjunction with the International Women’s Day. Qatari women play a key role in the development of entrepreneurs in Qatar, whether in the past or in the present time, thanks to the support they receive.”
