Qatar-Morocco relations have witnessed “substantial progress” in the past years, particularly after mutual high-level visits by both the countries’ leaderships, according to a senior Qatar Chamber official.
Board member Ali Abdullatif al-Misnad, who received a delegation representing the Moroccan Association of Exporters (Asmex), said the high-level visits helped promote and strengthen co-operation ties between the two countries.
The delegation, led by Asmex president Hassan el-Sentissi el-Edrissi, held a meeting with Qatar Chamber officials in the presence of Moroccan ambassador Nabi Zniber at the Chamber’s headquarters in Doha yesterday.
Al-Misnad said both leaderships played a key role in cementing cooperation ties “at all levels,” even as he pointed out that Qatar and Morocco enjoy “huge potentials and investment opportunities,” in which the private sector can establish partnerships and joint ventures.
He said trade volume between Qatar and Morocco stood at QR291mn in 2017. The meeting, he noted, reflects Morocco’s desire to develop co-operation ties with Qatar to open “new horizons of partnerships between both the economies.”
Underlining the importance of investing in Morocco, al-Misnad said Qatari businessmen are keen on exploring investment opportunities in the North African country, “which is replete with promising opportunities that attract international businessmen.”
El-Edrissi, for his part, invited Qatari businessmen to visit Morocco to explore the country’s business climate, and establish investments “in all fields.” He also praised the “substantial potentials” of both the countries, and affirmed the importance of studying available opportunities and intensifying mutual visits between businessmen “to overcome all economic challenges.”
Describing Morocco as the “gateway to Europe”, el-Edrissi said Qatari companies are welcome to European markets considering Morocco’s strategic geographical position.
Zniber said the meeting emphasises “the distinct relations that both countries enjoy and their wise leaderships.”
