Vodafone said it encouraged thousands of people to "get fit for the future" by participating in the various community activities that marked National Sport Day on Tuesday.
As platinum sponsor of Qatar Foundation’s National Sport Day event, Vodafone engaged the young and old with interactive and digital activities powered by its "state-of-the-art" network, the company said in a press statement.
These activities were designed to showcase how technology could also enable an active lifestyle and promote well-being.
Participants got the chance to experience augmented reality football and virtual reality car racing.
Additionally, there were fun activities for the family such as paddling around a race track and a kids' rock-climbing challenge.
Visitors also enjoyed specialty coffees and treats by the locally established and run Flat White café.
Vodafone also supported a total of more than 6,000 employees and their families from Mowasalat and Ali Bin Ali Group to have a fun-filled day by sponsoring their respective Sport Day events.
Vodafone also celebrated the day by launching a new offer — all customers who recharge with QR60 or above, until tomorrow, will get 2GB data for free for seven days.
“I’m delighted with our staff and the public’s enthusiastic participation in the Vodafone activities. His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s initiative to promote sports and fitness in Qatar is of huge public value and something Vodafone is very supportive of; so, we are proud to have engaged several community groups on this important day,” said Ian Gray, CEO, Vodafone Qatar.
