The phenomenon known as Blue Moon, the second full moon in a calendar month, will occur on January 31.

Informing this, Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has said in a statement that people in Qatar have a good chance to see the Blue Moon from the evening of January 31, Wednesday, until the next morning.
The moonrise time in the Qatar sky that Wednesday is 5.17pm, while the moon’s setting time on Thursday morning in 6.50am, QCH has explained.
In a statement jointly issued with QCH director Dr Mohamed al-Ansari, noted astronomer Dr Beshir Marzouk said two Blue Moons will occur during this year, with the second one slated for the last day of March.
According to information available online, the name Blue Moon has nothing to do with its colour. Rather, it refers to its long gap between appearances. On an average, Blue Moons occur around only once every two and a half years.
