The Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, in collaboration with educational instructor Khaled Saleh al-Yafei, held a workshop titled ‘How to plan your life’.
The workshop aims to help participants plan their future by setting their goals with a focus on a specific timeframe.
Al-Yafei said: “If you do not know what you want, you will not reach where you want. This is the baseline for setting up a plan for your work life. Each one of us should set his or her goals in mind and determine the time required for its implementation, regardless if those goals are immediate, short-term, medium-term, or long-term.”
He added: “Strong belief, enthusiasm, and passion are the real starting point for change in all individuals who seek change. The ambitious desire to become something or to do something is the starting point for any dreamer. Dreams are not born for people with indifference, laziness, and those who lack of ambition, hence there is a big difference between wishing for something and working hard to achieve it.”
Al-Yafei further said that setting plans and believing in one’s ability is needed to transform dreams into ambitions and desire. “You should all remember that achieving your goals requires efforts and determinations. To attain one’s objective, virtues like precision, realism, and following a timeframe are among the many factors that contribute in achieving our
objective,” he said.
He also reviewed the stages that a person must pass through before reaching one’s goal such as the evaluation stage, development stage, planning and re-planning stage, the overcoming difficulties stage.
He also touched upon other aspects influencing the development and implementation of goals such as faith, family, social, academic, functional, physical, health and recreational.
Bedaya Centre general manager Reem al-Sowaidi said: “This workshop is a continuation of a series of workshops that are held to help entrepreneurs and those interested in planning, irrespective of any level of business, goals or even practical lives. Every individual must develop a successful plan to balance his or her life to achieve goals and aspirations.”
“It is necessary for all of us to set goals and properly plan our lives. We should identify our priorities and arrange them accordingly so that it can be reviewed at any given time, in addition to focus on motivational things that help us to achieve our goals,” al-Sowaidi added.
