HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) acting chief medical officer Dr Abdulla al-Ansari and senior leaders from across the healthcare provider’s network of hospitals have celebrated Qatar National Day with patients and staff.

Led by the public relations team from its Corporate Communications Department, HMC’s network of hospitals and facilities has celebrated Qatar National Day with a series of events that reflect the country’s heritage, culture and traditions, HMC has said in a press statement.
On the occasion, each hospital organised a number of events featuring traditional tents and activities, including henna drawing and handcrafted items. The staff members wore traditional clothing and served local delicacies, while traditional songs were played in celebration of the occasion.



Patients and staff across HMC’s network of hospitals and facilities were treated to three days of celebrations in recognition of Qatar National Day 2017.


Decorated in accordance with this year’s theme - 'Promise of Prosperity and Glory' - the national flag was proudly displayed throughout HMC’s hospitals. On December 12, events were held at Al Khor Hospital, The Cuban Hospital, National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR), the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) and the Enaya Continuing Care Center in Muaither.
Al Wakra Hospital, Hamad General Hospital, Heart Hospital and the mental health service held their celebrations on December 13, and were followed by a number of cultural events held at Al Rumailah Hospital, the Women’s Wellness and Research Center, Qatar Rehabilitation Institute and the Ambulatory Care Center on December 14.
Ali Abdulla al-Khater, chief communications officer and chair of the Healthcare Communications Committee, said: “On December 18, we celebrate our shared identity and the history, which shapes our country. We contemplate the values and ambitions that bring this country together; a nation small in size, but great and noble in actions and in ambition. Qatar National Day presents an opportunity to express our gratitude and reverence to our ancestors who have endured many hardships to make Qatar what it is today.”

In recognition of Qatar National Day, each year HMC organises a range of activities to mark the occasion, providing staff, patients and families with an opportunity to experience the true spirit of Qatar’s great pride, heritage and culture, the statement notes.
