A Transport Educational Centre was opened yesterday in the West Bay area by HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti.
A number of senior officials from government bodies and companies representing the transport sector attended the opening ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion HE al-Sulaiti said “Under the wise leadership of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the follow-up and supervision of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, we saw transportation projects receiving remarkable attention which has led to a clear vision for implementing the best programmes in the country for the benefit of our society. The centre is the vehicle through which we will educate the present and future generations on utilising these technologies to their full benefit.”
The minister said the Qatar Rail’s projects, especially Doha Metro, will form the vital backbone of the integrated public transport system, supported by other rail-based systems like Lusail Tram, to encourage the use of public transport.
HE al-Sulaiti added: “Education has always been indispensable to our progress. The Transport Educational Centre will be the central hub where the people of Qatar can learn and discover the many benefits of our public transport system. It is a world- class educational facility of the highest calibre to match a world- class transportation system the nation can look forward to.”
Qatar’s urban framework is swiftly evolving around the state-of-the-art metro infrastructure, designed to facilitate a new generation of commuters to move seamlessly within all other means of transportation. The Transport Educational Centre is not only an exhibition space, but also a state-of-the-art interactive educational centre and vibrant learning space.
The centre will be a hub for children, students, residents and visitors, enabling them to witness firsthand the innovation and excellence underpinning Qatar’s transport system.
