In the most hotly-anticipated game of the season so far, Doha Maroon and
the Camels are set to go head-to-head in Round Four of the Qatar Rugby
Federation’s (QRF’s) National Club Rugby Championship today.
The match, which will be played at Doha Rugby Football Centre (DRFC) at
5pm, will determine who will move top of the standings in the
hotly-contested league.
Talal Mujalli, assistant coach of the Camels, said: “Our players are
ready, they are prepared to go up against one of the best teams in the
Gulf region, Doha Maroon. We will do our best to win, and to come out on
top. Best of luck to all the teams playing on Friday.”
Dave Ford, captain of Doha Maroon – Doha RFC’s men’s first team – added:
“This the biggest game of the season so far for us, and something we’ve
been training for all year. We know their strengths and we know their
weaknesses, and we have a game plan that will ensure we take home the
win and top the league. Plus, a few of them played for us last year so
we know what to expect. With three games taking place at DRFC on Friday,
it will be a big day for Qatar rugby.”
The day’s activities will commence with the Doha Vets battling it out
against last year’s champions, Blue Phoenix at 1pm, followed by Doha
Gold – Doha RFC’s men’s second team – going up against Al Khor RFC at
3pm.
The games are open to the public, and visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of QR50.
The QRF’s National Club Rugby Championship is set to conclude in
February 2018. The matches are being played in three different venues
across the country, including Al Khor, DRFC, and Aspire Zone’s Warm-Up
Track.
