Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) first vice president Sheikh Saud bin Ali al-Thani met Hungarian ambassador Fodor Barnabas on Monday. The meeting reviewed the aspects of sports co-operation between the two countries and the means of supporting and developing them in the next stage. Sheikh Saud welcomed the Hungarian ambassador, praising the bilateral relations between the two countries and the co-operation between them. For his part, the Hungarian ambassador praised the sports renaissance and major tournaments organised by Qatar, and wished bilateral relations further progress and development.

Qatar U19 football team ready for Asian qualifiers
The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced the Qatar U19 football team for the three friendly matches in preparation for the Asian qualifiers. The squad includes 27 players: Hashim Ali, Baha Mamdouh al-Leithi, Ahmed Suhail Saber, Yousuf Abdul Razzaq Yousif, Mohamed Wa’ed Abdul Wahab (Al Sadd), Nasser Bakhsh (Qatar), Adam Mohamed (Qatar), Abdullah Nasser al-Merisi (Al Khor), Hamam Ahmed, Ahmad al-Janji, Nasser Abdul-Salam al-Ahraq, Abdullah Ali (Al Gharafa), Nasser Saleh Yazidi, Mohamed Khaled al-Naimi, Shehab Mamdouh al-Leithi, Youssef Ayman Farahat, Khalid Walid Mansour, Khalid Mohamed Saleh (Al Duhail), Ali Malallah Krami, Amir Abdullah (Al Wakrah), Abdul Rashid Ibrahim, Marwan Sharif Badruddin (Al Ahli), Mahmoud Ibrahim Abu Nada (Al Arabi), Ahmed Bakhit Menhali (Al Sailiya) and Nayef Abdulrahim (Al Rayyan). Doha will host matches for group C, which includes Iraq, Lebanon and hosts Qatar.

Qatar lose to Malaysia in futsal friendly

Qatar’s futsal team lost to their Malaysian counterparts 4-5 in the second friendly match held in Doha recently. The friendly game came as part of Qatar team’s preparation for the upcoming AFC Asian Futsal Championship qualifications, which will take place in Thailand in November. Qatar is due to conduct an international training camp in Thailand from October 28 until the beginning of their official campaign in the AFC Asian Futsal Championship Qualifications.

Al Gharafa to participate in Arab Club Basketball Championship
Qatar’s Al Gharafa will participate in the 2017 Arab Club Basketball Championship in Sale, Morocco, from October 23 to November 3. The tournament will bring together 13 teams, including Association Sportive Sale of Morocco, Fath Union Sport of Morocco, Homenetmen of Lebanon, Al Jazirah of Egypt, Petroleum Complex of Algeria, Union Sportive Monastirienne of Tunisia, Étoile Sportive de Radès of Tunisia, Al Fateh of Saudi Arabia, Al Muharaq of Bahrain, Nazwa of Oman, Al Nasr of Libya, South Oil of Iraq and Al Gharafa of Qatar. The delegation of Al Gharafa sports club will head to Morocco on October 21.
