Emir meets President of Singapore, discusses ties

His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met on Tuesday morning with the President of Singapore Halimah Yacob at the Istana Presidential Palace.
The President welcomed the Emir in Singapore, stressing that the visit will provide positive impetus to the relations between the two countries and to further cooperation and joint coordination.



His Highness the Emir inspects the guard of honour

In turn, His Highness the Emir expressed the importance of relations between Qatar and Singapore, looking forward to opening wider horizons of mutual cooperation.
During the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries and aspects of enhancing them in various fields that benefit the two sides.
A number of regional and international issues of common concern were also discussed. 

Emir accorded official reception 

Earlier, His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani was accorded an official reception ceremony at Istana Presidential Palace in Singapore on the occasion of his state visit.
The President of Singapore Halimah Yacob led well-wishers to welcome the Emir upon his arrival at the Presidential Palace. 
The ceremony started with both Qatari and Singaporean national anthems before His Highness the Emir reviewed the guard of honour.
The Emir then shook hands with members of the Singaporean official delegation and senior officials.
The Singapore President also shook hands with members of the Qatari official delegation.
