The ‘Cultural Diversity Festival,’ taking place at Katara – the Cultural Village’s Amphitheatre, continues to enthrall a large number of spectators especially during the weekend with an array of performances from various countries.

The event, organised by Katara in co-operation with the Unesco Office in Doha, had seen audiences enjoying songs and folk dances on stage over the weekend, representing cultures from the United Kingdom and Brazil.

The Brazilian “Aldeia dos Anjos” received loud applause from the audience as melody of Brazilian tones took the centre-stage, revealing the richness of South American traditions and conveying its connection with various cultural elements representing different regions in Brazil.

The troupe presented marvelous themes, all inspired by the nature-life in Brazil, and the vivid traditional costumes matched the set of melodies.

The troupe is known as the most renowned folkloric group in Brazil, winning 11 times in the Enart-Meeting of Arts and Traditions.

The competition is the biggest competitive festival in America , which gathers more than 200 dance groups annually.

The troupe also participated in several worldwide festivals such as in Europe, Turkey, China, Canada, the US, Argentina, and South Korea.

Following the Brazilian performance, the ‘Celtic Massed Pipes and Drums’ performers captivated the audiences with some British tones compiled with unique moves.

The band is an international creative union of musicians from European countries who are linked by a common history. It was established in 2016 to perform at the Spasskaya Tower Festival under the supervision of the founder and head of the Band, David Johnston, who belongs to the British Army Band.

Katara noted that visitors will also enjoy other folkloric performances from Ethiopia and Iran scheduled to take place on October 15 and 16.
