Vodafone Qatar has hosted a closing ceremony for the third edition of its Ramadan fundraising campaign – the ‘Giving Challenge’.
The event highlighted the success of this year’s campaign and the efforts and contributions of the three Qatari social media influencers who took part – Aqeel al-Janahi, Ahmed Abdullaa and Ahmed Khalil al-Khaldi.
Attended by many officials and representatives from the charities that benefited from the challenge, the social media influencers, as well as Vodafone Qatar employees and the media, the success of the event proved how the ‘Giving Challenge’ has become “one of the most high-profile and successful CSR programmes in Qatar.”
During the event, Vodafone Qatar director of External Affairs Mohamed al-Yami joined the influencers in presenting cheques to senior representatives from the three beneficiary charities – Qatar Charity, Afif Charity and Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF).
Al-Yami expressed his gratitude to the participants for their involvement and highlighted the continued success of the ‘Giving Challenge’ as an innovative approach to supporting charitable causes through the power of social media to raise awareness on the activities of such organisations.
He also congratulated the charities for the progress and impact of their various programmes and initiatives, and highlighted the strength of Vodafone Qatar’s commitment to supporting them.
Al-Yami said: “Our whole team is delighted with the success of this year’s ‘Giving Challenge’. Each of our participants has contributed so much to these important causes. The ‘Giving Challenge’ is a perfect example of how Vodafone Qatar is able to create lasting positive change, drawing on the strengths of our network to connect people to the things that matter most.
“The continued success of the initiative demonstrates the hugely positive potential for digital technologies and social media in supporting the incredibly important work being done by a wide variety of charitable organisations.”
Vodafone said the ‘Giving Challenge’ “has proven to be hugely successful” at reaching audiences in Qatar through social media. Now in its third year, the programme has raised more than QR1.8mn to date.
The funds raised by this year’s participants will be used to support a diverse range of projects and activities ranging from cataract surgery in Niger, supporting orphans in the Middle East, and a number of other humanitarian and development projects.
