The Atbara-Abu Hamad power transmission line project, funded by Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD),  in the River Nile State of Sudan has entered its final stages and is expected to open soon.
QFFD said in a statement that the $218mn project reflects the concept of economic integration through the implementation of development projects that contribute to the advancement of economic and social development.
The project is designed to provide continuous electricity to residential, industrial, agricultural and mining areas in the River Nile State, as well as the delivery of electricity services to future agricultural projects, which will contribute to food security and agricultural development.
The project includes the supply and installation of electric power stations, civil works and designs for the construction of a number of 220kV double-circuit transmission lines with a length of about 387km, and the establishment of 5 new transformer stations, and expansions of 2 existing power stations.
The project is managed by a joint working committee in collaboration with technical committees of the Ministry of Finance, Hassad Food Company, Kahramaa, Sudan’s Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity and Sudanese Electricity Transmission Company.
