Culture Pass members can now sign up for exclusive tours to see the National Museum of Qatar and explore its interior and exterior grounds, Qatar Museums (QM) has announced.
In a statement, QM noted that 50 tours have been scheduled to welcome Qatar’s residents to see the iconic building, which is inspired by the beautiful desert rose design.
The tours will start on July 24 and are open only to Culture Pass members who sign up online.
The National Museum is an architectural gem designed by world-renowned French architect Jean Nouvel, and is due to open in December 2018.
The National Museum tells the story of the people of Qatar, celebrating the country’s rich heritage. It will combine historic objects and contemporary influences, opening up a dialogue around the impact of rapid change while honouring its ancestors’ legacy.
“The National Museum is next year’s addition to Qatar’s growing cultural scene. Having welcomed His Highness the Emir last month, foreign dignitaries and members of the community more recently, we open our doors to the people of Qatar,” HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani said.
"The tours will enable you to appreciate the architectural gem of Jean Nouvel for one last time before we begin our interior installations. This is everyone's last chance to experience the museum as an architectural artefact. We welcome all nationalities and residents,” she added.
QM’s Culture Pass programme offers almost 16,000 members unique access to diverse cultural activities across Qatar.
Members receive a vast range of benefits from QM and its partners, including access to workshops that develop creative skills and explore exhibition-related themes; dedicated newsletters with the latest activities taking place in Qatar and abroad; invitations to attend exclusive exhibition openings; private tours of galleries and discounts of up to 15-25% at QM cafes, gift shops and selected sites.
Recently, QM restructured the Culture Pass programme to include four tiers, three of which are paid and one remains free to the public. The new tiers include Culture Pass, Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Plus Family, Culture Pass Academic, and Culture Pass Creative, which allow everyone to enjoy QM and its offerings in a way that best meets their needs and interests.
