Nepal Magar Association-Qatar (NMA-Qatar) organised its 12th convention at the Gulf Horizon Hotel recently. The convention raised issues such as the establishment of Magar autonomous state and social and economic improvement of Magars in Nepal. It was chaired by NMA-Qatar Chairman Mahendra Magar. Resham Magar and NMA central committee chairman Nabin Roka Magar were among the distinguished guests. Representatives from multiple Nepali community organisations and journalists also attended. NMA-Qatar was established in 2000 to promote the Magar culture and arts in Qatar. 
The convention programme was divided into closed and open sessions. The opening session kicked off with the burning of candles and a minute-long silence for Lakhan Thapa Magar and other martyrs from Magar community. 
During the programme, artistes performed a song that highlighted the need for the formation of an Magar autonomous state. Earlier, they performed a welcome dance choreographed by Bhupendra Magar. Some of the NMA members were awarded with certificates for their respective contributions to Magar community and for the promotion of Magar culture and arts.
The new working committee of NMA-Qatar, led by chairman Sher Bahadur Magar, was unanimously elected during the convention.
