The United States will become more directly involved in trying to resolve the Gulf crisis when Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrives in Kuwait on Monday.
He will meet with Kuwaiti officials who have been trying to mend the feud within the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The secretary of state has only Kuwait on his itinerary but he could remain in the region and visit other capitals in what would amount to shuttle diplomacy to resolve the dispute.
Before arriving in Kuwait, Tillerson will visit Turkey to discuss the Gulf crisis with Turkish officials.
