The Entertainment City, considered the Qatar Summer Festival’s (QSF) centrepiece and a family favourite, opened yesterday at  Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, attracting visitors with its line-up of interactive games and other attractions.
The unique offerings this year “provide a challenging but fun-filled experience for families and children who are looking for adventure this summer”.
The first wave of thrill-seekers had the opportunity to try the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course, as QSports claim, as well as the XTork Extreme Rebels section for skateboarders and BMX riders.
For the first time since its inception four years ago, the City brings a zip line, basketball competition (3-on-3) and paintball arena to engage visitors in sporting activities.
“I really likef the concept this year because it promotes a healthy and active lifestyle. It also forces children to play and move more, which is good for them,” said Fernan S, a Filipino expatriate who regularly takes his family to the Entertainment City every year.
He added that he also plans to try the paintball shooting range and the arena with his colleagues in the coming days.
The different children’s rides and games were also a big hit such as the bumper tubes, fun clown, animal carts and kids’ crane.
The Entertainment City features 87 games across 11 categories, which include arcade games, toddler games, virtual reality games, skill and active games, sports competitions, tech hub, shooting range, Timba cars and Bricklyn Lego.
According to Qatar Tourism Authority, the City forms part of QSF’s efforts aimed at showcasing Qatar’s unique urban and family entertainment offerings. The festival will run for more than two months, until September 5.
Meanwhile, participating malls across Qatar have started offering discounts and special promotions to shoppers.
