Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has said the siege enforced on Qatar is inhumane, expressing hope that the crisis can be resolved through dialogue between all parties. Speaking to journalists aboard a plane after returning from a visit to Greece, the Turkish PM said no one knows exactly the nature of the accusations directed at Qatar. He also wondered, “when did Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood become militant terrorist groups”.
He noted that the Muslim Brotherhood ruled Egypt after elections and was removed via a coup. Further, Yildirim said some countries have a problem in defining terrorism, a problem that he said needs to be faced and solved. Failing to reach an agreement for a definition of terrorism would lead to more regional difference, he stressed, adding that the Turkish position sees Saudi Arabia playing the role of the older brother, in order to guarantee harmony between all GCC member states.
