Emir holds phone talk with Mali president
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held yesterday a telephone conversation with Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita during which he expressed condolences on the victims of a terrorist attack that took place in Kangaba Le Campement resort East of Bamako. The Emir stressed on Qatar’s firm position against extremism and terrorism regardless of its source or reasons, as well as its rejection of all criminal acts that terrorise the innocent and contradict with human principles and values.

Bombing in Bahrain’s village condemned
Qatar has strongly condemned the blast that took place in Diraz village in Bahrain, which resulted in the killing of a member of security forces and injuring two others. In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s firm position rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of its source and whatever motives and reasons, and its rejection of all criminal acts that terrorise the innocent and are incompatible with humanitarian values and principles. It expressed Qatar’s condolences to the family of the victims and to the Bahraini people, and wished the injured speedy recovery.

Don’t endanger sports, says ANOC
The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) yesterday expressed concern about the diplomatic crisis revolving around Qatar, stressing that politics and sports must stay separate. In a statement, the Switzerland-based organisation “expressed its hope that the international sports movement in Qatar would not  be endangered by the geopolitical situation in the Gulf region”.
