The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) has entered into a partnership with Qatar’s Al Dawri and Al Kass Sports Channel, with both parties signing a Protocol of Cooperation agreement.
SC secretary general Hassan al-Thawadi and Al Kass general manager Essa bin Abdulla al-Hitmi put pen on paper at the Al Bidda Tower, signalling cooperation in diverse areas including but not limited to broadcast content production, media rights ownership and public relations.
Al Kass offers Mena viewers a basket of eight proprietary 24x7 sports channels which are broadcast out of their state-of-the-art production facilities in Doha.
“Al Kass is a unique media outlet that is relied upon by people in Qatar and the GCC to shine a light on sport and football in our own communities. It has set a benchmark for coverage of Qatari football on and off the pitch,” al-Thawadi said.
“It has supported us continuously from the day and been by our side since we launched our bid in 2009, through the opening of our first stadium last week.
He continued: “This agreement formalises the existing cooperation between the SC and Al Kass, and provides a framework to enhance our collaborative efforts. It will assist us in delivering our messages directly to the sport-mad populations of Qatar and the GCC, ensuring awareness of our progress and initiatives. Local support and engagement is the most important foundation for a successful tournament and this partnership will serve to strengthen and enhance this support.”
Qatar’s second biggest sports media conglomerate after beIN, Al Kass are the official broadcast rights partners of the country’s marquee sporting property, the Qatar Stars League.
Al-Hitmi also expressed his delight after the partnership was announced. “Al Kass is pleased to work along with the SC in documenting all events, activities, projects and plans relating to the preparations of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar,” he said.
“Our shared objective is to deliver an exceptionally organised event for the world, while leaving cultural, civilisational and sporting legacies for future generations in Qatar and the region.”
He continued: “The SC is a strategic partner of Al Kass in many legacy projects including the Al Kass International Cup, and the organisation has done a great job to prepare the country for the historic event in 2022. As a result of this agreement, there will be regular coordination between Al Kass and the SC, particularly in the field of TV production and coverage.”
The SC’s assistant secretary general, Tournament Affairs, Nasser al-Khater and director of Communications, Fatma al-Nuaimi, also represented the SC management at the signing ceremony.
Meanwhile, the head of Technical, Turky al-Subaie, head of News, Abdallah al-Marri, and head of Rights and Acquisitions, Zeina Daou, represented the Al Kass management.
The SC also announced that it will continue as sponsor of the Al Kass International Cup until 2020. The organisation has been a sponsor of Qatar’s premier international Under-17 tournament since its inception in 2012. (SC.qa)
