Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co. (AAB), exclusive distributor of Toyota and Lexus in Qatar, is holding the 1st AAB Treasure Hunt in collaboration with the Public Parks Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) on May 5.
Announcing this on Wednesday, AAB's chief operations officer (automotive) R K Murugan said that along with promoting Qatar's public parks, especially those in and around Doha, the treasure hunt aims to create better awareness among the country's residents about safety practices.
"AAB Treasure Hunt, which is first of its ever in the country, is a CSR initiative aiming to promote Qatar's public parks and remind people about road safety practices."
The AAB official also said the winners of the treasure hunt would win attractive monetary prizes. "The AAB Treasure Hunt is not a race. Participants are reminded to observe road safety practices while enjoying the scenery and the public parks".
Director of Public Parks at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Mohamed al-Khouri hoped the event would help spread better awareness about safety among residents.
To date, the ministry has renovated parks and added new locations across the country. These parks serve as a family hub providing ample space for families to enjoy nature as well as for children to have safe play areas.
The ministry is recognising the need for children to go out and play for a more balanced and healthier development. By providing these leisure parks for families, the public parks are also the ministry’s way of creating a “Green” Qatar.
"Contributing towards a green environment and encouraging work-life balance is part of AAB’s internal sustainable practices and corporate culture, and hence the company is collaborating with the ministry on select activities," said Murugan.
Winners will be judged on the least time spent in completing the 'Park Challenges' at the designated public parks.
Teams participating in the treasure hunt will be required to visit several parks. The teams should have a Toyota vehicle which should carry five people. The teams should be mixed, comprising both men and women.
"Each men's team should have at least one female or vice-versa," said another AAB official while elaborating on the composition of the teams. The organisers are expecting at least 25 teams.
Participants will be selected from entries made to AAB Qatar either on Facebook or Instagram. The public is encouraged to follow AAB Qatar’s social media accounts and #mytreasureaab to get more details about the event.
Last day for the applications to be received and pre-qualified is Friday midnight.
AAB is committed to building and developing sustainable communities through its CSR initiatives that promote and support Qatar National Vision 2030.
