In a first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena), Qatar Life and Medical Insurance Company (QLM), a subsidiary of Qatar Insurance, will organise a free health checkup for nationals and expatriates, including those on visit visa, on the World Health Day on Friday (April 7).
Qatari nationals and expatriates (whether insured with QLM or not) can visit its nearest counters at the Turkish Hospital (C-Ring Road), Al Safa Clinic (Al Nasr Street), Abeer Clinic (Mesaimeer Road) and Naseem Al Rabeeh (C-Ring Road) to avail free medical check-up from 2pm to 8pm. Participants would only need to present their Qatar ID to avail the listed services.
“To commemorate World Health Day, we at QLM take pride in organising free medical check-ups for all the citizens and residents of Qatar. In addition to this, the noble initiative also casts a spotlight on our responsibility towards corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the greater community,” according to Salem al-Mannai, deputy group president and chief executive of QIC Mena region.
At Turkish Hospital, participants can choose any one of the 12 specialties such as cardiology, cardiovascular, urology, neurology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, general surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, gastroenterology , pulmonology in addition to the check-up of vital signs as body mass index (BMI), pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure and respiratory rate.
The free medical tests available at Al Safa Polyclinic are GP (general practitioner) consultation, dental consultation, cardiology consultation, vital signs (weight, height, BMI, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, respiratory rate), random blood sugar, spirometry, eye checkup, echo cardiograph, obstetrician and gynecologist consultation, USG-OB/Gynec (basis requirement).
The free medical tests available at Al Abeer are GP consultation, dental consultation, blood pressure, glucose – random, cholesterol – total, creatinine – serum (kidney function), ALT (liver function), BMI (assess body fat).
The free medical tests available at Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre include cholesterol checkup, urine analysis, random blood sugar, BMI, neurologists’ consultation voucher, eye check-up consultation voucher and dental check-up voucher.
A senior official of QLM said participants would have the freedom to choose the kind of tests they want to undergo at the listed medical facilities.
"Early detection of lifestyle diseases such as high blood pressure, blood sugar etc. is crucial as it helps to prevent complications at a later stage. Reinforcing the importance of this proposition, QLM along with few medical providers have taken a step forward to promote awareness and wellness for all the citizens and residents of the nation,” al-Mannai said.
Expecting heavy demand, QLM would also deploy its staff in the help desks of medical providers to ensure seamless activity.
