A delegation from the Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (Goic) visited Saudi Aramco’s Dhahran headquarters to forge cooperation ties in support of Saudi Arabia’s industrial development.
The delegation was led by Goic secretary-general Abdulaziz bin Hamad al-Ageel, who met with Aramco’s senior vice-president of Technical Services Ahmad al-Saadi, including managers from industrial development, strategic supply, and project management.
The objectives of the meeting is to attract investors, encourage the private sector, and provide trained and qualified local talent capable of increasing Saudi’s local content capacity to meet the energy company’s In-Kingdom Total Value Add (iktva) target of 70% localisation of total goods and services investment by 2021.
Al-Saadi underscored the importance of cooperation between Saudi Aramco and national and regional organisations in support of industrial development to guarantee conducive business environment.
“Saudi Aramco seeks to create several additional training centres to cover all industrial needs by 2030, which will be capable of promoting human resources development in the kingdom and throughout the Gulf,” al-Saadi said.
Al-Ageel said Goic is highly-interested in cooperating with Saudi Aramco in several fields, particularly under iktva, a programme initiated by Aramco to stimulate the growth of industries and drive Saudi Vision 2030.
He stressed that iktva’s success in supporting service providers’ programmes and plans to develop, train, and increase the number of national cadres “will strongly motivate” many major industrial companies in the region to launch similar initiatives.
Al-Ageel also added that Goic would seek to form a Gulf network to exchange expertise and programmes between Gulf companies interested in increasing added value by further localising industries and boost local content.
