Doha Insurance Company will be known as Doha Insurance Group from now on following the amendment of the company’s Articles of Association after getting approval from the extraordinary general assembly meeting held in Doha earlier this month.
With this, it has completed the “process of transitioning from one company to another.”
Going forward, Doha Insurance Group said it “aims to implement a novel approach towards enhancing the organisational structure.”
In order to “keep pace with the expansion strategy” at both local and regional levels, Doha Insurance Group said the “emphasis would revolve round, both creating new positions filled by qualified new cadres, as well as relying on highly qualified and experienced industry professionals.”
Doha Insurance Group said, “This would not only ensure that the efficiency of performance and the accuracy of control remain intact, but also allows the company’s management to improve the training of the existing employees, increase their performance level, and ultimately develop and strengthen their skill sets considerably.”
Attributing to the new group strategy, the company’s board of directors has already made new appointments. Abdulla Sultan has been appointed Doha Insurance Group’s chief operating officer.
His leadership role spans across a multitude of responsibilities within the company including supporting business operations, determining strategy implementation, management of the business developments, overseeing the core underwriting process, risk management and marketing. He has also been appointed as a member of the board of directors of the group’s subsidiaries.
Sultan previously served as assistant director at Arab Insurance Group (Arig), Bahrain. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Strathclyde. He is also an FCII and a chartered insurer.
Sultan has gained praise for being the youngest Arab national to acquire the “coveted fellowship designation” by the Chartered Insurance Institute in the UK, when he obtained the status in 2013.
Doha Insurance Group has also appointed Ghaith Jardaneh as its chief financial officer.
Jardaneh will be responsible for the management and ongoing development of the financial operations of Doha Insurance Group, including financial reporting, financial controls and financial planning. He will also assist the investment department in developing the group’s investment policy and managing the group’s investment assets.
Jardaneh has an MBA with specialisation in finance from the University of New Orleans in the US. He has earned the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2014.
