A delegation of Indonesian politicians led by House of Representatives’ deputy speaker Dr Agus Hermanto met Ooredoo CEO Waleed Mohamed al-Sayed in Doha.
The delegation was accompanied by Indonesian ambassador Mohamed Basri Sidehabi and Indonesia embassy’s minister counsellor, Boy Dharmawan.
The Ooredoo International Group (OIG), a leading telecommunications company in the world, “has a special place in the hearts of Indonesian people because of the company’s active role in the development of our country especially in the advancement of digital telecommunications industry,” Hermanto said.
“We are proud that the company has been awarded one of the most innovative companies in the Middle East and Africa regions in expanding its business and serving hundreds of millions of customers across the globe,” he said.
Indosat Ooredoo, which is now a part of Ooredoo International Group, has become one of the leading digital telecommunication companies in Indonesia.
The company consistently increases its productivity with more than 80mn customers in Indonesia and 4,000 employees.
Indosat Ooredoo was recently awarded on of the most innovative companies in Asia.
Hermanto pointed out that the company has showed a significant growth in revenue and continues to expand its network in order to support the growth of productivity. “We invite and support OIG without hesitation to expand its investments and business in Indonesia,” he said.
The Indonesian economy is currently the 16th largest in the world with a population of more than 250mn.
“Our government has made progress in its bureaucracy and structural reforms agenda aimed at raising economic growth. It has adequate legal instruments that support the development of foreign investment,” he added.
Al-Sayed welcomed the visit and hailed the statements by Dr Hermanto to “support the further planned expansion of investment” in Indonesia.
When Nasril Bahar, a parliament member requested him to support the development of Indonesian football, al-Sayed promised to bring Ooredoo’s global brand ambassador, Lionel Messi, to Indonesia by this year.
