Retaj Hotels & Hospitality is expanding its portfolio in Qatar by opening three new hotels this year, chief executive officer Hassan Ahdab told Gulf Times yesterday.
Speaking on the sidelines of Cityscape Qatar 2017, Ahdab said the company is set “to create a record” with the opening of Retaj Al Rawda, Retaj Msheireb, and its “jewel” – the Retaj Salwa Resort and Vichy Spa.
Ahdab said Retaj Al Rawda, slated to open around July or August, boasts of about 80 units and a couple of apartments for short or long-term stay, and is located along
Doha’s Ramada area.
Retaj Msheireb, according to Ahdab, will offer 110 guest rooms and suites when it celebrates its grand opening around September or October this year. In December, the Retaj Salwa Resort and Vichy Spa along the Salwa area will open Doha’s “first and unique” sports and wellness resort, he stressed.
“Retaj is a brand that is well-accepted and well-digested in the GCC market and beyond. It is a brand that promotes the Arabian hospitality; it is very authentic and cherishes the Arab heritage, while at the same time provides a very modern accommodation and complete facilities.
“We have a very proud team working for Retaj, which is the strength of our human capital. It is a safe haven for businesswomen and families from a comfort point of view. I believe we are really blessed with this brand and we look forward to promote it further
worldwide,” he said.
“We just signed about another 1,800 rooms between Saudi Arabia and Turkey so this year is really a game changer for Retaj, which is doubling its capacity by almost 100% to 120%,” he pointed out.
The company’s Qatar portfolio consists of 1,000 keys supplied by Retaj Al Rayyan Hotel, Retaj Royale, Retaj Inn, Retaj Residence Al Corniche, and Retaj Inn Marina. The three upcoming hotels will add another 400 rooms, he said.
Ahdab also lauded the state’s efforts to build Qatar’s image as a tourism destination, including the ongoing major infrastructure work, which, he said, “will not disappoint
visitors.”
“It is a small country but the amenities that Qatar offers are at par with other international destinations around the world,” he stressed.
“Customers go for safety, variety, weather, leisure, shopping, and proximity, and all of these are available in Qatar. The country also boasts of a world-class airline and an international gateway to the world. Apart from the nice people, Qatar has all the ingredients that cater to all the needs of tourists and residents alike,” Ahdab said.
