HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met Prime Minister of Bahrain Prince Khalifah bin Salman al-Khalifah at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
At the outset of the meeting, Prince Khalifah bin Salman al-Khalifah conveyed to HH the Emir the greetings of King Hamad bin Issa al-Khalifah of Bahrain and his wishes to the Qatari people of further progress and prosperity.
HH the Emir greeted the Bahraini prime minister and welcomed his visit which reflects the keenness of the two countries’ leadership on enhancing the existing consultation, co-ordination and co-operation, especially in light of the grave challenges facing the region.
The Emir reciprocated Bahrain king’s greetings and conveyed his wishes of more progress and prosperity to the Bahraini people.
Talks during the meeting addressed bilateral relations and means to further develop them.
The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments, and exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern.
The meeting was attended by HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani,  Personal Representative of HH the Emir HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa al-Thani, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and a number of Sheikhs and Ministers.
On the Bahraini side, the meeting was attended by Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Ali bin Khalifah bin Salman al-Khalifah, Sheikh Ibrahim bin Hamad bin Abdullah al-Khalifah, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Khalid al-Khalifah, Prime Minister’s Adviser Sheikh Salman bin Khalifah bin Salman al-Khalifah, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed al-Khalifah and the members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister of Bahrain.
Following the session of talks, HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Prime Minister of Bahrain and his accompanying delegation at the Emiri Diwan.
The banquet was attended by HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, Personal Representative of HH the Emir HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani, HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa al-Thani, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and Sheikhs, Ministers, and dignitaries.
Earlier on arrival in Doha Bahrain’s prime minister was welcomed at Hamad International Airport by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.
Prince Khalifah bin Salman al-Khalifah was accorded official reception ceremony.
Upon his arrival, Bahrain’s prime minister expressed pleasure at his visit to Qatar at the invitation of HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
He hailed the Gulf, Arab and Islamic bonds between Qatar and Bahrain.
He added that the visit is an opportunity to view the urban developmental progress in Qatar which started during the reign of HH the Grandfather Emir late Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani, continued by HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and carried on by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. He said Qatar has become a symbol of progress and development in the GCC and the region.
The prime minister said he considers direct communication between the GCC leaders and senior officials a necessity especially with the political, economic and security challenges in the region. Direct communication enhances the common position and unites visions in effectively confronting these challenges, he said stressing the importance of intensifying meetings and co-ordination between GCC States to maintain the security, stability and development of the region.
