Injecting a shot of inspiration and energy into the community, How Women Work (HWW) is bringing in the International Women’s Day on March 8 in a most appropriate way. Titled Success and Wellness, the conference on March 8 will have HWW celebrating its eighth annual celebration by introducing various ways of positive change to the womenfolk of Qatar.
Evridiki Iliaki, the Qatar-based Certified Business and Life Coach and Head of HWW, told Community, “It will be a special day that you won’t want to miss. It will be devoted to bringing awareness to all women in Qatar that success at work is connected to a balanced, healthy living and how that can start from a healthy/fit body. Working on building strength in your body can build more mental strength as well and inspire you to be more successful. There will be prominent, local personalities who will be awarded at our ceremony in the end. So we can draw inspiration from some of the best. Also, we have a big surprise, our keynote speaker, a prominent, famous local figure, who is HWW’s role model for leading a holistic, healthy life.”
About the event, Iliaki, in a note on behalf of HWW, says, “After 108 years celebrating the first international woman’s working day, are things better for us? There are some positive changes but research claims that we are individualistic, ‘slaves’ of work with health consequences. So, break free; this is our chance to be inspired to adopt a new positive change that will inspire us to stand together and support each other.”
If you would like to secure your attendance at the event, you can RSVP [email protected] or contact 50579078 for details – registration will start at 3:30pm, the event will go on from 4pm to 9pm. The admission fee for the event is QR250, and the seats are limited. The fees collected from the event will go towards HWW’s Ladies’-in-Need counselling programme.
In today’s times, it is vital to have fulfilling careers but also a healthy, balanced lifestyle that reminds us that our health is our most valuable possession, HWW points out. “It will be a special day devoted to bringing awareness to all women in Qatar that success at work is connected to a balanced, healthy living and that can start from a healthy/fit body. We will help you see how working on your posture and your body will not only keep you healthy in the long run, but can also make you very confident and successful.”
Some of the highlights of the event include understanding the importance of a confident posture and how it can affect your professional and personal life. “Realise how choosing the right type of exercise for you can help you ‘listen’ to your body’s needs and improve your posture. We will show you how working with your body can change your mindset and create a powerful, confident lifestyle,” HWW says.
Among other things, you will learn a unique, stretching/breathing exercise regime and a powerful visualisation technique that HWW says will help you improve your posture and confidence. “Learn the body language and power poses of powerful, professional people. Learn a few key self-defence moves that will introduce you to the world of martial arts and show you how similar activities can build your confidence. Have the chance to ask any personal questions and get answers. You will also have the chance to learn more about HWW and be part of the HWW family, a group in Qatar that will always be here to support you,” says HWW.
Since its inception in 2009, HWW has supported more than 7,300 women in Qatar to grow and improve. When asked about how HWW plays its part in bringing the community together here in Qatar, Iliaki said that it conducts several seminars and conferences, including the one on March 8, and then in May, the How Women Find Work conference. “But also, we have a support group that provides free counselling for women in need, in a respectful manner, always trying to direct cases if needed to local Muslim family centres and other local authorities,” Iliaki said.
“At the same time, in our HWW family, we do mainly community work here in Qatar since 2009, bringing all major communities together as we have members from across communities. This year, we want to highlight this aspect and emphasise that one of our goals towards which we are working hard is to show that women from all nationalities and backgrounds can stand together and help each other to be successful together, building each other along the way. We are blessed to live in a safe country that has welcomed us all and help us flourish. We should work together in harmony to contribute to its great development as well.”
