Various ministries and other public organisations took part in the National Sport Day celebrations with a wide range of physical and sporting activities at different venues.

The events saw the participation of a large number of employees of these entities and their families.
HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi took part in events organised by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park. Also present were a number of senior MME officials.
HE al-Rumaihi also visited other locations where National Sport Day activities were held, including Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation and the Corniche. Besides, all municipalities organised activities to mark the occasion and encourage all segments of society to participate in physical activities and exercises.
HE the Minister stressed the importance of sports and said the number of sporting equipment and facilities in public gardens and parks across the country would be increased to encourage more people to stay active through the year.
Further, he pointed out that the MME has been keen to encourage its employees to engage in sports all year round by organising different games in participation with other entities.
Similarly, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) conducted a number of activities for its employees and their families at Katara.
The MEC programme was aimed at enhancing good social relationships among the ministry's staff and encourage them to adopt an active lifestyle. Accordingly, most of the featured activities involved groups and teams, while children enjoyed themselves in a special kids' play area.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics and Qatar Social Work Foundation conducted a 'walkathon', with the participation of employees of the two entities, at Aspire Zone, aiming to make the occasion more attractive for the participants.
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) conducted a number of activities at the Awqaf playground in Abu Hamour, where a considerable number of employees took part in different sporting activities, including a football match.
Other government entities that took part in the National Sport Day activities included the General Authority of Customs and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) among others.
