There is a chance of light, scattered rain in the country on Friday, the Qatar Met department has said. Poor visibility -- 2km or lower -- is also expected in some places in the early hours.
Different parts of Qatar, including Doha, received light rain on Thursday. The weather office also tweeted on Thursday evening about the presence of “some thundery cells offshore”.
The Met department had recently forecast that unstable weather would affect the country until Tuesday (February 14) night, resulting in strong winds, rain and thunderstorms.
The conditions are caused by the “deepening of an upper low-pressure system” over northern Saudi Arabia along with an “extension of the Sudan low-pressure system” over the Arabian Peninsula.
On Friday, hazy to misty/foggy conditions are expected in some inshore areas at first. It will also be cloudy at times and there is a chance of light, scattered rain.
Offshore areas, on the other hand, are likely to see hazy to misty conditions at times. It will be cloudy later in the day.
Meanwhile, temperatures have started increasing and the trend is likely to continue on Friday, according to weather charts.
The minimum temperature is expected to be 11C in Abu Samra, 13C in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Al Khor, and 16C in Doha. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 24C to 26C in the country.
On Thursday, a minimum temperature of 9C was recorded in Mesaieed, Karana and Ghuwairiya, followed by 10C in Mesaieed, Al Khor and other places.
In and around the capital, the minimum temperature was 12C in the Qatar University area and 14C in the Hamad International Airport and Doha airport areas.
