The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has reminded people in Qatar that they can avail of Community Policing services through the Metrash2 mobile application.
The Community Policing section on the app offers different types of services – security, social, invitation and requests, and general, the MoI has informed through posts on social media.
Through the Security Services option, one can report abandoned buildings, different violations of regulations, sale of prohibited items, damaging facilities and endangering inhabitants.
The Social Services option allows people to report and resolve family disputes, as well as behavioural problems, and seek other types of social support.
Meanwhile, the Requests option in the Community Policing section gives users the opportunity to request for awareness lectures, security exhibitions, school visits, company visits and other types of event participation.
Further, one can report damaged signboards or signals, dangerous intersections and curves, or other types of dangerous situations through the General Services option.
Metrash2 provides a host of MoI services for individuals and corporates through their smartphone in six languages. Besides Community Policing, the services offered include those pertaining to visas, residence permit, traffic, travel permits & leave notification, Criminal Investigation Department and others.
Recently, the ministry reported that about 7mn e-inquiries were completed using Metrash2 and the MoI portal in 2016, an increase of 32% compared to 2015. Also, 20,352 traffic accidents were registered through Metrash2 in 2016.
The number of transactions accomplished through the app in 2016 crossed 2mn, registering a rise of 54% compared to 2015, the report said.
